LEAP
LEAP – Learn, Exchange, Apply, Practice
LEAP is a 2 year vocational project designed for contemporary dance teachers in Europe, to exchange and discuss relevant practices in teaching methodologies. The project’s goal is to widen the range of teaching methods, approaches and target groups for dance teachers by inquiring existing teaching practices. The project is specialized in contemporary dance education and builds on the previous EU project IDOCDE. The goal of IDOCDE was to explore documentation to exchange practices in European Dance Education. LEAP utilizes the IDOCDE website to communicate its process and results with the project partners and the general public.
The project is structured around 4 activities: LEAP Teaching Residencies - LEAP Meetings -
TAB: Teaching Across Borders - LEAP/ IDOCDE Symposium
a) LEAP Teaching Residency (TR) –
3 international teams research good practices in contemporary dance education. The teams meet twice for one week within the project time and build a shared research strategy to work together on a chosen theme. The results of the TR’s can be followed on the IDOCDE website.
b) LEAP Local Meetings – taking place regularly at each participating institution, offering a platform of exchange, discussion among local colleagues. A local teacher acts as facilitator. The LEAP meetings are open to all local dance educators and are centred each time, around a chosen topic.
c) LEAP TAB – Teaching Across Borders offer teaching opportunities at the LEAP partner institutions with the aim of increasing networks for both teachers and organizations, as well as giving teachers new teaching experiences in other countries. Interviews and a reflection process complement these events, which can be followed on the IDOCDE website.
d) LEAP - IDOCDE Symposium
At the Symposiums 2014 and 2015 during ImPulsTanz Vienna International Dance Festival results of TABs will be shared and other developments in contemporary dance are being discussed in theory and practice.
