REFLEX Europe
REFLEX Europe
Documenting as a tool for reflection in order to improve the teaching and to increase the impact on the learners in contemporary dance.
REFLEX Europe builds on and complements the two European partnerships IDOCDE and LEAP:
IDOCDE (International Documentation of Contemporary Dance Education, www.idocde.net) created an online and offline network of contemporary dance teachers to make their work visible and to create a shared legacy.
LEAP focused on best and diverse practices in teaching contemporary dance throughout Europe and used the IDOCDE website for exchange and documentation of the process.
REFLEX Europe explores the practice of documentation and how it can be utilized in a reflective process in teaching. In both IDOCDE and LEAP the participants noticed that documentation has the potential to feed back into the teaching of dance, improving the quality of the teaching, deepening historical connections and developing the analytical and creative potential of the teacher.
REFLEX Europe researches documentational practices in writing and video in depth and creates the REFLEX tool & guide consisting of a manual and a workshop to facilitate the learning process through documentation.
At the core of REFLEX Europe is the Research Group (RG) consisting of 11 dance teachers and specialists in video and written documentation who over the course of three years, will develop the REFLEX Tool & Guide in a series of Research Modules throughout project duration. This developing, creating and testing phase will be concluded by a Tool Editing Team and specialists who then edit and publish the REFLEX Tool & Guide.
