WHAT WERE YOUR EXPECTATIONS?

  • I felt a bit in the dark about what to expect as a teacher in terms of tech support, student number or backgrounds but it was okay as this is often the case
  • to share practice
  • to share my tools/practices and experience the tools/practices of others
  • to meet new practitioners
  • to share questions, knowledge, desires
  • networking
  • new inputs, new points of view, new concepts
  • inspiration
  • physicality, dancing, various formats of performance (lecture, teacing), exchange with others, time to reflect + get inspired
  • to find new way to be together and enrich my life
  • nothing
  • tools for teaching, tools for documenting, very practical ones "tricks and tracks"
  • overstimulation
  • i expected to become a part of the community

  • I came with few expectations. I expected a balance of emodied practice and more traditional presentations
  • meeting curious people and creating a meaningful place space and time to exist in
  • as it is my first time of participating in the Symposium... my expectations were all over the place, space, time. But basically to meet those people who created this beautiful and meaningful platform as a form of sharing. I was curious.

  • support from staff (volunteers), organizers as a workshop presentor

  • back in the project / see colleagues / refresh my understanding or the project, tool

  • My expectations were (1) to meet a community of professionals who are engaged with the matter "dance" and I found those in this Symposium. (2) To create more communication paths with other professionals and colleagues. (3) To access innovative information. (4) To share my finding with others. (5) To create more bonds with others. (6) To find a different space for reflection about dance rather than the academic space or training space.
  • To learn more about how dance in connecting the world.

  • my expectations were to learn from others not only with language but by the way they are; They are fullfuled.

 

 

WHAT HAPPENED?

  • I found newconnections between my thougts thoughts
  • I I experienced to be a part of a circle
  • I feel at home
  • I moved. I danced. I slept. I got excited. I got tired. I connected.
  • Discovering the physical weight of Mind the Dance.
  • self-knowledge sharing love inspiration community
  • nice people who are interested in the well-being of all beings
  • I had the opportunity to speak and question my feelings about difficult subjects
  • I got to engage with experts in meaningful ways
  • I was provoked to realise how strongly I feel about econimic inequality and spcial inequality
  • space for wharing
  • the connection cognitive + emotional happened big time
  • my 4th IDOCE various / cohesive / inventive / novel / memorable / It all happened SO FAST!
  • learned A LOT / + have more resources for my students + colleagues

  • i chose to go to my "second choice" workshops to challenge my comfort level and am very happy I did.
  • I saw that most of us have almost same fears and restrictions / we shoudle encourage each other to contact
  • what happened happened. And I'm thankful for that. There was a lot of henerosity, diversity and passion, love and such a tremendous amoung or care and belief that sometimes it just blew me away... continues breathing.

  • what is the connection between IDOCDE and Mind the Dance?
  • meeting friends / colleagues
  • participate din dialogue and exchanges. Shared my knowledge. Gained new knowledge. Feel amowered by finding co-thinkers / participants / new colleagues
  • rock, paper, scissors / grounded, context to reflect on specific pedagogic approaces
  • spaces to reflect on what I do, what you do, how that is the same or different
  • I sensed the concerns as more "felt", as if the hit closer to home? as if up until now we spoke of work and now we cannot but speak of life.
  • (1) people shared knoledges and new ideas and future actions for the world I am sure will come! (2) subtle space; creativity; subtle perceptions; bringing up thoughts about communitarian inclusive living. (3) my question would be: how does my way of living affect my creativity – being an artist or not...
  • what do I want in my artistic work as a teacher, dancer
  • questioning my relation to compromise
  • inspiration and energy to re-invigorate my teaching practice

WHAT WOULD YOU WISH FOR THE FUTURE SYMPOSIA?

  • I wish to reach out more – reach out to the people out of the dance scene.
  • presentations from diverse dance practices/philosophies (katak, butoh, hip hop, african, folklorico, ...)
  • more time in teaching presentations for class talk about methods + approaches
  • focus on disability + different learning styles + bodies
  • I wish to move and thin more
  • I wish to listen more "other" people from "other" disciplines
  • more resources (€, time...)
  • I would to go into a deper research of dance knowledge/methods in relationship to other sectors/fields/disciplines/populations
  • more meeting with non-dancer and/or "marginalised populations"
  • small stipends for lectureres (at least travel) (added to the note: three ticks of support)
  • time to get worked into work so that we wouldn't ahve to assume or pretend things were easy when they are not.
  • library – books/resources to share – space for reflection + writing / thinking
  • more time outside of scheduled workshops for connecting / networking
  • it was not clear which workshops were movement based
  • can there be more attention given to presentational methods?
