Introducing his talk, Romain Bigé thought through what he calls the artist’s privilege to displace the borders between what should be noticed and what should not. What do we see, he wrote, when we are not looking in the direction we’ve been trained to look at? How do we train ourselves to perceive what we don’t need to perceive?

Romain Bigé practices and teaches philosophy and contact improvisation. Currently pursuing a PhD in the École Normale supérieure, he is also a recipient of the Fulbright grant associating him with Smith College, Massachusetts (2017). Romain is interested in the way movement practices shape sensory cartographies and give way to original modes of relating to other beings.
